  • by Nicolas Robinson-Garcia

I wanted to announce that I’ll be collaborating in the project Meaningful Data Counts, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation led by Stefanie Haustein (PI) and Isabella Peters (co-PI). You can read more about it in the official announcement posted in the ScholComm Lab.

Stefanie Haustein announced the funding yesterday on Twitter

So excited to share some good news and announce my first research grant as a PI: @Isabella83, @makedatacount and I received $US200k from @SloanFoundation to explore how researchers across disciplines and career stages cite and reuse #opendata! More here: https://t.co/DcTlGq6JNY

Here further info on the contents of the project:

The motivation for this project is to help showcase the value of open data! We want to turn the current vicious circle of lacking incentives and rewards for data sharing into a positive feedback loop, where collecting, cleaning and curating research data is valued and rewarded. pic.twitter.com/OG4JSfxpgA

Along with Stefanie Haustein and Isabella Peters, I will be collaborating with Daniella Lowenberg, Felicity Tayler, Rodrigo Costas, Philippe Mongeon and Peter Kraker.

Also excited that #ScholCommLab PhD student Asura Enkhbayar (@bubblbu_) will conduct research to develop a theoretical framework for data citations!
